Child Development Platform
In my Child Development class we examined individual learners within each of our classrooms. We learned about a variety of theories and techniques in order to accommodate for each student's needs within our classroom. Throughout this course we learned about Bronfenbrenners Theory, Erikson's Psychosocial Theory, Piaget's Theory, Vygotsky's Theory, encoding strategies, parenting styles and their affects on children, types of abuse (physical and behavioral indications), understanding the self, and the brain structure and function. With all of this new knowledge I had to conduct a case study on a fake student with numerous behavior characteristics and applied what I learned in the course through the case study. This assignment allowed me to apply my knowledge and I now know the importance of getting to know each student's backgrounds, cultures, and history before I make classroom decisions. Not only do we need to know about our student's cultures and backgrounds, we just know what motivates them as learners. By passing out interest surveys and student learning style surveys, I can learn about what my student's likes and dislikes are and their attitude towards learning.
